Homeopathic remedies are extremely diverse.
Many homeopathic remedies are made from amazingly common recognizable substances (red onion, salt), but some remedies are quite exotic (gold, flu virus, toad).
Roughly 80% of homeopathic remedies are made from plant sources.
Quite a few remedies are also made from minerals, and salts.
A few remedies are made from animals, and insects.
The least amount of homeopathic remedies are made from disease material.
Common examples of plant remedies are:
• Allium Cepa (Red Onion)
• Arnica Montana (Leopard’s Bane)
• Rhus Toxicodendron (Poison Ivy)
• Ignatia Amara (St. Ignatius Bean)
• Hypericum Perforatum (St. John’s Wort)
• Fucus Vesiculosus (Sea Kelp)
Common examples of mineral and salt remedies are:
• Aurum Metallicum (Gold)
• Natrum Muriaticum (Salt)
• Calcarea Carbonicum (Oyster Shell)
• Phosphorus (Phosphorus)
Common examples of animal and insect remedies are:
• Apis Melifica (Honey Bee)
• Bufo Rama (Toad)
• Lac Caninum (Dog Milk)
Common examples of disease remedies are:
• Influenzinum (Flu Virus)
• Tuberculinum (Tuberculosis)
I believe as a practitioner it is important to inform my clients of what their remedy is made from. However, I have alarmed or surprised a few of my new clients in the past regarding some of these exotic substances used in the creation of the remedies.
I would like to reassure both you and my clients in advance by informing how there is an extremely small amount (or none at all in most cases) of the original crude material in the remedies once they are processed. Most of the homeopathic remedies I use, especially if exotic, have absolutely none of the original material from their crude substances.
Homeopathy has had no toxic reactions from homeopathic remedies in over 250 years, and that is even with commonly using a honey bee as a remedy, which is deadly to some highly sensitive individuals.
Homeopathic processing works for safety first.
If you are still concerned, then contemplate the toxic chemicals in medicinal drugs we are prescribed, and the viruses commonly given to our children in vaccines. There is nothing in homeopathic remedies that compares to the extreme toxicity of western medications.
Again, these substances are made into completely non-toxic remedies due to the processes of either succussion, or trituration with extreme dilution.
More about processing remedies by succussion and trituration is written in the next section “How Are Homeopathic Remedies Made?”
Important Note About Using Animals:
Some people will understandably be concerned about the use of animals in homeopathic remedies. A few clients have specifically requested us to avoid recommending remedies made from animal sources.
We, of course, always comply with their wishes. But, just to note, homeopathic remedies are never tested on animals, only humans.
Homeopathic remedies come from some of the same originating sources as medical drugs. But, to the credit of sustainability of homeopathy, the use of one individual animal, insect, or plant as a homeopathic remedy is enough to supply that remedy to millions of people for many years.
Homeopathic remedies are safer, gentler, and the most sustainable substances used to heal naturally.
